the wicked world of witchcraft

Phew. I know that title is a mouthful, ha. But it is the name of the book that I am currently reading and loving, so I wanted to share.
There have been many books written on the new age, spiritual housecleaning, spiritual trends, and the like. But I love this book because it encompasses all of it in one place. It's easy to read, no fluff, no hype, no spooky weird stories, biblically backed, teaches thoroughly on all things that Christians need to be aware of in this day and age - ESPECIALLY if you have kids/grandkids/foster kids/spiritual kids. There is so much mixture in the Church as a whole, that we're not even aware of it. If you're thinking that your church or denomination is fine, think again. The enemy has subtly slipped things into belief systems, theology, sermons, books, and social media.
So why learn about this? We are not to be ignorant of the devil's schemes, we are to be girded up and protect our children, we are not to be passive Christians just playing church. Newsflash: there is a spiritual war going on and passive Christianity is what has gotten us into this mess in the first place. So let's just stop the mess, shall we? (Time to Rise Up.)
The author gives firsthand real life experiences she personally walked through - from being in a church cult as a child, a practicing witch, drugs, and more - to Jesus pulling her out of all of it.
The book is divided into three parts:
  • The first part is understanding witchcraft - what grooming for the occult is, open doors like addiction/abuse/self-hate/suicide, how witchcraft has grown in the world through movies/TV/games, how witchcraft has slipped into churches through compromise/counterfeit spirituality/rejection of biblical truth.
  • The second part is about the lure of the occult - slippery slopes of horoscopes and explanations of each sign, enneagrams, tarot cards, crystal healing, spells, manifesting, necromancy, yoga, burning sage, halloween, and prayers to renounce participation in these things.
  • The third part is breaking free - spiritual housecleaning, restoring your home, what to do if you have roommates, age appropriate conversations in helping your kids and teens, Bible verses, and prayers for kids/tweens/teens/married couples/adults.
The last fourth of the book is a dictionary of all things related to witchcraft or new age, which is super useful. I'm learning so much from it, and I thought I already knew the majority of the words/terms. The very first word of the dictionary is "abracadabra" - totally not what I thought it was. The last word is "zodiac." There's over 60 other words and terms in between. And it's not just simple definitions, either. There are explanations and examples from real life, movies, games, etc.
I did a flip through of the book here: The Wicked World of Witchcraft book review
I HIGHLY recommend every Christian and ESPECIALLY every parent to get this book!
